MedLook Weekly Tip For 12/19/2005

Batch Billing Insurance - Claims Preview   Return to Archive

If you are sending claims electronically all claims that will be transmitted are first displayed in the Insurance Claims Viewer after selecting Process. This dialog appears once MedLook has gathered and associated all of the claims based upon your input. The claims are overlaid on the red 1500 form. The alignment is based upon your settings so they may not line up exactly right with the form (particularly if your clearinghouse or printer are peculiar in any way). Each field of the claim can be reviewed for proper alignment and value. The form can be scrolled left and right and/or up and down.

The form itself contains a toolbar, table of contents (TOC), and message window beside the claim output area. The toolbar has a Save button (which you must use if you want to save the claims to file), Print button (to print the current page), Font (in case you would like to change the text font), HCFA button (to toggle the display of the red 1500 form on/off), and a Delete button (which is probably disabled at this point).

The TOC lists the page number and patient's name. Clicking on an item in the TOC jumps to that claim. You can also select one in the list and just arrow up and down very rapidly.

The message window below the claims will report any warnings regarding invalid codes (as you have defined them), etc. This will continue to grow as we gather more information for validity testing.

The Claims Viewer can also be displayed by selecting the Default (File1 or File2) menu item under the View Existing Claims Files. At this point everything is the same as already described EXCEPT now you can select a claim (entire page) and choose to delete it using the Delete option on the toolbar. The claim will be deleted from the claims file BUT NOT from the patients account.
