MedLook Weekly Tip For 10/17/2005Reports - Custom Reports (Part 5 - Patient Summary) Return to ArchiveThe patient summary is nothing more than a custom report. We use this so that you can taylor the patient summary to your specific needs. Let's start by looking at the first line. In every case you can invoke the editor for this template using Ctrl+F5, or in the newer version you can use the drop down list beside the Options menu item. [LastName, ] [FirstName] [MI] [Title] In this case we print the last name first, then the rest of the name. As you see it in MedLook the entire line is bolded. You can easily change the font (color, size, bold, italic, etc.) for any token. When the token is replaced with actual data it takes on the same attributes as the data already there. Refer to the tip from 02/14/2005 for another simple example. Another key thing to note in the summary is the use of tables. Tables are used to align data to give a professional appearance. Tables facilitate lining the data up into nice columnar format and allows for easier logical grouping of the data. A short cut to creating your own custom report is to use one of those already provided. The patient summary is stored in the Template folder as PatientSummary.rtf. Other templates are also there to provide you an easy starting point for your own custom report. Email Us Any questions, comments, or suggestions are welcome. |
